1979. A small Dutch village. 13-year-old virtuous Bart wants to do as many good deeds as possible. His credo is: what goes around comes around. 

But then suddenly he falls madly in love with the worldly and very seductive 16-year-old Moniek. They start seeing each other secretly. From that moment on all kind of terrible things start to happen in his life and that of his parents. Bart suspects it has something to do with the fact he spends more time with Moniek than doing his good deeds. He faces the choice between the love for Moniek and locking out his amorous feelings to get back on the right track. He chooses the latter but fate doesn’t seem to care. Moniek becomes gravely ill. Bart’s image of the world is turned upside down. He is willing to sacrifice everything to appease destiny and save the love of his life…
